What shoes to wear with a kimono dress?

I just bought one of those kimono silk dresses with the long sleeves for a company party. It has a small black pattern on cream for most of the dress, but the edges have a larger pattern. I bought some black tights with kind of a diamond pattern to go with it (I don't NEED to wear these BTW) Question... What would you do for shoes? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks a lot!

2. Simple black heels (or black heeled sandles) would look best - and ditch the patterend stockings - too much distraction and pattern paired with such a dress. IThe dress sounds beautiful.

7. The original Japanese platform shoes Long before the 1970's and the platform shoes, Japanese women had been wearing Geta sandals or clogs. The reason for wear these very high platform shoes was not for fashion, but for very practical reasons. If you are wearing a very expensive kimono that hangs all the way to your feet, you do not want to get mud on it when you walk outside. (A larger version of the picture can be seen by clicking on it). Are Geta difficult to walk in? Yes! Significant practice is required before someone can walk safely and elegantly in Geta.

9. The traditional shoe the Japanese wear with the kimono is a type of wooden sandal, however in more modern-times, it's not unusual to see women put these away and opt for more of a slipper. I would recommend a soft flat shoe with or without a strap over the top of the foot. Ballet slipper shoes in black. If you are going more for a sassy, yet company-outing friendly look, seek out a black pump with a tapered or stiletto heel if you can handle it. Velvet or shiny would be best. No textures, as they could detract from the designs of the dress. Enjoy the party!

14. Your kimono sounds lovely, and I think the tights would be okay to wear. Now try and purchase a thin pair of plain cream-colored anklets (again, plain with no lacy edges, etc.). Wear these anklets over the tights. Finally, to complete the look, get a pair of black slip-on "ballet-style" shoes or slippers that are completely flat with no heel. Aaah-So! I think that'll do it!!
15. I would say a 2-3 inch heel round toe pump. That would look good.
16. Can I have the dress when you're done with it? =P If it's a mini dress the tights and some calf-high stilleto boots would be adorable. If it's not, you can keep it elegant with high peep-toe heels, with or with out the tights. If you're not into heels, choose a low or flat shoe, Like Steve Madden's BUNNI shoe in black.
