Where can I buy a traditional kimono for a plus sized figure?
Greetings! I'm a size 22/24 in womens figured clothes for the US and am having a difficult time trying to find a Furisode Kimono (long sleeves almost to ankles). I do have a kimono I got at an anime convention. I believe it is a a tomesode-its black with colorful flowers and spirals and cranes and has short sleeves. The sleeves come to my right above my knees. So, can anyone help me out?

- Are you looking for a real Furisode kimono or costume? I found lots of real one on Japaneses web sites but they are really expensive. I couldn't find a ready-made kimono for your size. However, you can buy a custom-made kimono. Cheap one on E-bay. How about this Furisode, the sleeve is 6cm shorter than regular one. But length is only 162cm. http://cgi.ebay.com/KyotoKimonoCenter-Japanese-Kimono-Furisode-used-e0008y_W0QQitemZ220153124087QQihZ012QQcategoryZ29452QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem This has longer sleeves but this is for a short people. And this kimono is fake. http://cgi.ebay.com/Winsome-Flowers-Bird-Motif-Furisode-Kimono-35121_W0QQitemZ250168659875QQihZ015QQcategoryZ29452QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem If I were you, stop looking and make one. Here is how to make a Yukata. http://www3.ocn.ne.jp/~cexn/yukata/yukata_saidan.html Maybe you can find a few old Kimono and you can make into Furisode. I think Ykata and Furisode (all Kimono) is making same way.(just sleeves are longer.) http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Troy/5187/kimono.html http://bryn-gwlad.ansteorra.org/articles/as/kimono/

- you'd have better luck getting one made. you will not find a real one in your size, especially if you are taller than 5'6". I am that tall and I was taller than just about every Japanese Female I knew when I lived there. be prepared to pay a lot, much fabric goes into the making of them and even ready made ones for my size(8-10) ran in the thousand dollar range, and wedding ones.. in the $5k range.
