I need help with Japanese History? OK, so, I need help with Japan's history. I have two different regions, and I'm supposed to find out facts about both of them. Mrs. Nakayama gave our group two different regions, because she says there isn't that much on a few of the regions. The two I got are Chubu, & Kinki. Things that I need to find out about these both are, - Culture - History - Festivals - Food - Events And any other interesting characteristics. I would LOVE if you gave me a short essay type thing, and maybe a few URLs? Thank you in advance, kB:)
Good food Idea for a history project? I'm taking a world history class and I need to do a project on food. We a in the 500-1500ad area. I was thinking about doing ancient Japanese food. What would be a good thing that I could cook that would be easy and that I could bring into class. Any other suggestions on other cultures that I could do a project on feel free to mention them.
I'm black and I'd like to visit Japan for his culture and arts. How would they (the japanese) welcome me? Hello everyone, I'm searching for as many informations as possible about Japan. I like the culture (martial arts, the food, arts, history, samourai, Tanabata, japanese R&B music, some movies and series, etc) because of their rich history and it's different from my culture (I'm African). Here in Belgium, where I live, I've tried to go to cultural saloons, but the only thing they show about Japan was mangas, action figures and video games. I was so disappointed and I decided to go to Tokyo and visit the city :D. I want to know how the people live there, it could be a nice experience. I know that it would be a bit difficult because I'm black and some Japanese have a bad image of black people, due to the media. But if they see that I really respect their culture and that I'm a nice person, everything will be coo, no?. Well, I hope so. So I'm asking you, people who are reading this, do you think that I could find families who are willing to accommodate me? Because I really want to see the way they live.If I go to hotels, it won't be the same. And where can I find Japanese correspondent?

Websites on Japanese culture? From what I've learned about already (in school and by watching the History Channel), I am very interested in the Japanese culture and their traditions and what not. I'd love to learn more about it though, because I'd love to move there when I'm older. So, any websites with details on their religions, traditions, main foods, and other important things? Thanks. :) LOLLLL WTF?

Is it bad that I'm black and I care more about Asian culture rather than African culture? I'm African American and I am not at all intrested in African culture. I do know a lot about African and African American history, but I don't necissarily care for African culture like most other black people would. I have a very huge intrest in Asian culture (food, language, clothes, etc..), I have a specific intrest in Japanese and Indian culture. for some reason I feel like it's bad that I'm black and don't have any intrest in African culture.

Major differences between Koreans, Japanese and Chinese.? lets be honest and level headed. Chinese are mixed between many different tribes. They all speak Chinese and eat Chinese food. Koreans absorbed many tribes living in Manchuria and Siberia during ( Ko-Chosun, Korguryo, Paekje, Shilla, Kaya) Kingdoms. Koreans had many wars in the past with China, Monghol, Japanese( Chosun Dynasty). In the end they are all Koreans. Speak Korean and eat Korean food. Japanese are mixed between Koreans and Ainu. In the end they speak Japanese and eat Japanese food. Koreans are homogenous regarding too language and culture. It is really amazing that Koreans had so many wars in the past but still Koreans ( Koryo People or Chosun People) exist in modern world ( 82 million Koreans). What is Korean history and Korean nationalism? Like past, present, and future what forms Korean identity it always has been not becoming " chinese," "monghol", " japanese", "russian, and " American". Thats Korean ethnocentrism and Korean racial identity. Not to be absorbed by China.
What is 'White Culture'? After reading many questions and answers on Y!Answers I see lots of questions from white people asking 'Why don't we have white history month?' or 'Why don't we have white entertainment television?' As a white guy myself I never thought 'Gee there isn't enough white programing on TV' or 'Golly wiz why isn't there a white history month.' I don't even see being white as a culture. I know there are hundreds of cultures, anything from Italian culture, to Japanese culture. I could go on and on. The only people I hear talking about 'white culture' have bald heads and swastika t-shirts, or funny white sheets for hats. So define for me what 'white culture' is. Where did it originate? Does it have its own language or dialect? Does it have its own distinct music or food? What famous people has it produced? Has it been influenced by other similar cultures? What makes it unique and different from any other culture? I see European culture as different and distinct and not related in any way to being just 'White.' Most european countries in fact aren't considered 'white' or have thier own culture that falls outside of what would be considered 'white.'
Koreans do not hate Japanese.? Not all Koreans hate Japanese. The word hate is too strong and isolated word. Koreans probably hate narrow minded stupid Japanese politicians and Japanese Nationalist. Koreans do not relate those two as Japanese majority. Both nations and people have nationalist groups. But majority of Koreans and Japanese travel each other countrys and eat eachother foods. They probably enjoy eachother's cultures too. Korea and Japan are changing rapidly. Japan does have good points which Koreans can learn from Japanese. Koreans also have good points which Japanese can also learn from Koreans. Both countries need to learn from eachother. Educations, Tourism, Sports is the best way to solve history problems between Korea and Japan. If Koreans and Japanese have historical friction and animiosity then let them express the feeling in healthy way in sport competitions. In future year and growth. Korea and Japan need eachother. Many things Koreans can learn from Japanese culture. For example, simplicity
how do you handal this? 10 POINTS? right now i'm 16 years old and i hate my home contry (wich is america by the way) take no offance america lovers i won't list the things i hate cuzz if i did that would prevoke the peopul who do like america, no matter whair i go and no matter what i do i can never meet anyone who understands the culture i'm into, i'm into the japanese culture and i've ben doing evrything i can to live just like a japanese person here in america but thair are so menny things that are apart of the japanese culture that isin't even in america. also i hate the american culture but i always get rebelled as being called "a deamon" or "evil" when i say anything about it. also my hole life i've ben thinking of moving to japan once i graduate from college but thair are menny things that are stoping me such as; #1 i don't have any way of lurning the japanese langwege exsept throw anime (in death note light says "shinigami" means "god of death" when he meets one or in XXXholic then watonuci's frainds ask him "your name watanuci means 'april fools day' but isin't that also your birthday?") that's my only sorce of lurning the japanese langwge wich isin't any help at all and i can't find anything that helps me read write and talk in japanese #2 i'm always traped in the house never to leave for anything but school, can't hang out anywair, can't viset anyone, can't go to clubs, can't wonder the city, can't go for a walk, can't look for any events. this really stops me from being able to look for anything that will help exspeshaly since when i look it up online the only websites that pop up are just stuff for vacation and music vidoes and thair's nothing that tells you how to lurn the japanese langwege with no resorses and how you can plan out all your high school years and to plan out collge to forcefuly be alowed to moove to japan and be sesseful over thair. i do evrything in my life acording to the japanese such as when i thank someone i bow to them, or i only wach anime this one isin't a choice i wach anime cuzz i like them better then any other movies or shows not cuzz thair japanese and some anime are amiracan wich i still like. so when evryone gets talking about what thair faverot movie or show is my classmates always give awnsers like; fredy VS jason X-men transformers harry poter scooby doo my awnsers are always; spirited away naruto duel monsters GX the grate yokai war full metal alchemist XXXholic then when evryone is asked to list games they like to play my classmate's awnsers are always; halo 3 metal gear gitar hero or something about vaperising alins and zombis my awnsers are always; radiata storys dot hack ultimite ninja star ocain kingdom hearts and when we are asked about are favret food most of the peopul awnser pizza, burgers or chiken and i always awnser instent raman in a cup, shrimp and rice. also i read manga wich are made to read backwards and peopul complain at me on how i read books from right to left when they wer made that way if i get a book that reads left to right i will read it the correct way but, amost evry book i read are made to read from right to left and peopul complain about it. i have no acsess to anything that teaches about japanese history. i hate american music, music isin't sapost to be about making loud electronech noises wail yelling as loud as you can repeating the same thing over and over. music is soppost to be an art about convying your emosains and each line is sopost to be different. i usewely wach japanese music vidioes with subtitles so i can understand the song and in all japanese song i've lisend to this one you'll see by clicking on this website is the MOST electronic one i've heared http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYST7X3qd30 my favoret singers are kenn and bowl. bowl sounds like a 31 year old and he sings very sad songs and when he sings he's voice ALWAYS sounds sad when he sings. kenn sounds and looks like a 17 year old he sings J-pop songs that are very cheerful songs that have a very fast beat the song in this site was his bigets hit it's called "wake up your heart" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ae-K5LK198U you can get the english translation by e-mailing me or by useing wikipidiea. and peopul get all predegist over me when i talk about this kind of music but they have no problem talking about that crapy heavy metal and rap. sorry but i like J-pop and violin music and i hate lisening to heavy metal and rap reason. heavy metal and rap singers don't show any emosans in thair voice when singing exsept anger wich is the easiest and cheepest emosain and the music has no beat and no lessen in the lyrics. wair in J-pop the music has a beat such as the song i listed from earlyer it's beat is the same as your heart beat when your running and the music i lisen to have lessens in thair lyrics. like in the song "endless dreams" the song talks about useing determenation and never giving up to reach your goals and give yourserlf mean

Re: The Rape of Nanking... Japanese inhumanity? Ok... first of all, this is not meant to reflect any racist attitude towards Japanese people. However, it is a question in regards to the cultural and social factors that went into an event that is among the most infamous, if not THE most infamous in known world history. Only posters with knowledge on the subject matter please! 1. The acts committed during the Japanese attacks on China in 1937 and 1938, continuing until the end of the war were so heinous as to make the German atrocities seem mild by comparison. I am asking for an indepth assessment of how humans (the soldiers) could possibly commit, EN MASSE, the types of atrocities that occurred by the 100,000's. 2. In reviewing some of the comments by eye-witnesses on the Japanese side, I found it very 'telling' that they said the Japanese soldiers were treated women and children and babies as if they were dogs and cats for pleasure. This is a profound statement to me, as I believe treating cats and dogs like that would have been unspeakably inhumane. I know many Japanese and Chinese on a very deep and personal level and I have always felt that many "Asian's" in general have far less respect for animal life than we do in western culture. For instance, Japanese will hold cooking contests to see who can make the best food out of LIVE fish and they will eat it while its living, being only partially cooked and aired on live TV. Chinese are known to brutally kill dogs to eat, claiming that a violent death makes the meat taste better. ***** So in your opinion, how does the treatment of animals in these cultures contribute to an attitude or willingness that could result in the types of atrocities being discussed here? To me, if you are treating animals this way at home, you weren't far from treating other humans this way during war. Agree or disagree? 3. I have heard a lot of people say that Japanese civilians should not be blamed for what the soldiers did in China. But I can't help but hold those who raised those soldiers somewhat responsible for a child who grows up and is able or willing to commit those atrocities. I know many things have happened throughout history and even still happen, but on the scale it happened in China and with mass participation, it would appear that this case is exceptional. I can not imagine any western soldiers from any country, EN MASSE, doing the things that were being done in Nanking. Bad things, similar in some cases, YES! I know they have happened. But Nanking was extreme beyond reckoning. 4. Did American's and western society get realistic descriptions of THE WORST of what was happening in Nanking at the time, or did we learn later? If not, was it kept from us? 5. Finally, if the Japanese has succeeded in holding us off long enough to be defeated at some point... do you believe the Japanese would have made a lasting and real peace with the Germans or would they have still intended on conquoring them as well at some point?
What do you want your children to learn or what are you currently teaching them? I am making a list in case when raising a child I get to busy with things of what I would want them to learn (of course each child is different and choice is important) but so far this is what I have come up with and would like other ideas as I plan on eventually in the near future making a baby. Language and Culture French, Chinese, Japanese the history of all countries (like a themed month where you eat foods and embrace the culture of other people) All religions so they can make their own choice with knowledge. Medicine. Evolution of man. Guitar. Quantum Mechanics. How to use an abacus. Personal Finance (making a game where they get to open their own sidewalk shop pick merchandise, retail price something fun like that) These are few things I would want my child to learn...what does everyone think. (and no answers like honesty, love, respect, right from wrong) more specific and personalized things I mean we all want good kids so be specific. How was I not clear...be specific yes we all know we want our kids to learn respect integrity the difference between right and wrong and blah blah if that was the answer I was seeking I wouldn't ask the question as it is general and shared knowledge....be specific people. Make it personal.

Britney your child will end up a spoiled brat like you with no substance, and last children learn what they condemn...yes they should have choice and I will adjust to their needs not one person has said what THEY want to teach their child or what they are currently teaching them...ABCs 123s isn't that what our under paid teachers are for...do you parents not teach anything or leave it to our great education systems THIS QUESTION WAS NOT HOW TO BE A GOOD PARENT OR WHAT THINGS TO DO TO BE A GOOD PARENT ANSWER THE QUESTION WHAT DO YOU TEACH YOUR CHILDREN OR WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO TEACH YOUR CHILDREN. NOT WHAT MAKES YOU A GOOD PARENT In response to "Nowhere in your list did you say you want to teach compassion, kindness or individuality." Compassion -sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together with a desire to alleviate it. How does not embracing the food language and culture of countries in a themed month not teach a child of our human diversity preparing them to treat all people with compassion and equality? Individuality- the particular character, or aggregate of qualities, that distinguishes one person or thing from others; sole and personal nature. How does not sharing and teaching a child of religious beliefs and or non-religious practices not prepare them to make an informed decision to shape into their own individual choice? I did not put vague and common knowledge items on my list instead I put ways and ideas to support the global characteristics of kindness, empathy, individuality, self respect....defining the meaning of something is easy, putting it into action is harder.
Why do Chinese/southeast Asians always claim they have the same blood as the Japanese/Korean? I, myself,am from Nagoya, Japan, and have been living in Japan for 25 years, although I did move to Busan, South Korea when I was around 18-19. I am Japanese, Korean, and Native American. What I noticed is that there are so many people asking,"How do I tell between Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Southeast Asian?". It just doesn't make any sense to me, because people in Japan can always tell when there are foreigners. Like for me, I always knew when people were Chinese or southeast Asian. With Koreans, they were able to blend in since there has been a long history of migration, ancestry, and DNA. I noticed people who were usually Chinese, southeast Asian, always claimed to have Japanese or Korean blood. And then they would say, "Chinese/southeast Asian ancestry and DNA is the same as Korean/Japanese". WHAT? First of all, why the hell would Chinese/southeast Asians include Korean/Japanese to be the same? In Korea and Japan, southeast Asia were considered foreigners. Southeast Asians did not even come in contact with the Koreans/Japanese. With the Chinese, there could have been some sort of Chinese ancestry, but Okinawa is the only part of Japan which could have DNA similar to the Chinese/Taiwanese/southeast Asians, because Okinawa was once part of China/Taiwan/southeast Asia. Even people in Japan know that Okinawan natives look completely different from native Japanese people. With the Chinese, their Han Chinese ancestry originated from the Yellow River, China, for many, many years. In southeast Asia, people were also said to originate from Taiwan which was once part of southern China. But, China is a HUGE country. Not all Chinese people are related. But, history has said that the Northern Chinese did migrate to southern China, and even migrating to Taiwan then to southeast China. With Korea, people did not migrate from China or anywhere near there. Koreans originated from Siberia/Mongolia/Central Asia/North Asia specifically from the Ural-Altaic Mountains. With the Japanese, people were said to have different ethnicities. With the Yayoi, they were said to have migrated from the Korean peninsula, while the Ainu migrated from Siberia, while the Jomon were said to have migrated from Korea/China through Okinawa then through Kyushu. But, then again, there isn't really any way the Japanese would have Chinese ancestry, because some people claim that the Jomon migrated from East Africa, traveling towards southeast Asia, then through China, through the Korean peninsula, and lastly Okinawa/Kyushu, Japan. If the Japanese had southeast Asian/Chinese DNA, then wouldn't the Koreans have southeast Asian/Chinese ancestry/DNA. Hell no!!! Are you kidding me? There has never once been any history in Korea and Japan stating that the Koreans have southeast Asian/Chinese. Koreans and Japanese already know that our ancestry and DNA originated from north Asia (Mongolia, Siberia, Ural-Altaic Mountains), and NOT CHINA/SOUTHEAST ASIA. So, to all the Chinese/southeast Asians, DONT COMPARE THE KOREANS/JAPANESE TO HAVING THE SAME DNA/ANCESTRY. Even the Chinese/southeast Asians have different personalities, expressions, tastes, cuisines, and cultures than the Koreans/Japanese. With Cuisines, Chinese/southeast Asians eat unsticky rice, chicken and pork, MSG, fish sauce, coconut curry, and always stir-fry their foods. The Koreans/Japanese eat sticky rice, fish, vegetables. This explains why the Korean/Japanese cuisines are stated to be the most healthiest cuisines in the whole world. By appearance, the Chinese/southeast Asians have round eyes slanting upwards, flat, low-bridged noses, shorter body and bone structure, less or no body or facial hair. The Koreans/Japanese have almond, crescent-shaped eyes, higher-bridged, larger noses, taller body and bone structure, and more fuller, thicker, body and facial hair. People in Japan and Korea already know that Chinese/southeast Asians look so much different. Oh, by the way, Manchuria was once owned by the Koreans/Mongolians. If Manchuria was part of Korea/Mongolia, if you line up Korea, Japan, Mongolia, Manchuria, Siberia, Central Asia, they all line up and have the same DNA and ancestry. China should not include Manchuria and should be part of Southeast Asia/Taiwan. Anyways, thanks. If you read this whole list, thanks. - Hiroyuki Watanabe
Im doing a report on a person/event in history..? and it has to be about the triumph or tragedy of an event or what the person did. for example: the creation of penicillin a triumph or tragedy? or women's roles in WWll: triumph or tragedy? etc. etc. so i've narrowed it down to a few topics, but can't decide which to choose. the paper has to be 1500-2500 words also. so i was wondering..out of these which would be easiest to write a paper on, most interesting, etc.: Ray Kroc: Fast Food Changes America Saladin: Crusades Winston Churchill: Fight Against Tyranny The Triumphant and Tragic Voyage of Christopher Columbus Creation of the State of Israel Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii: Destruction of a Culture Vincent Van Gogh: The Triumph and Tragedy of Genius Relocation of Japanese Durning WWll Joseph Stalin and the Purge of Russia Galileo: Triumphant Discoveries, Tragic Life Social Securtiy Act, 1935 It would be a great help if you could help me narrow it down even more! Well we cant do it on current events such as the War in Iraq or 9/11 because we have yet to figure out how it has changed the world and history to come.

food party ideas please? so, driving home from our honeymoon in NH my new husband and I had the great idea to host an annual international food party for our friends/family, because everyone could use a little more culture in their culinary experiences :) We plan on picking the 'theme' country, then having everyone make something (we'll pick guidelines for how many apps, main dishes, etc can be brought) and bring the recipe with them, and hopefully some of the history of their dish. we're going to try to provide international beer and wine as well... so my question is...what country would you start with? And don't say American (although we might do it one year, just not for the first). we want to broaden horizons, and have people try new things... SO what would you pick? We can't decide...Irish, Mexican, French-Canadian, Russian, French, German....Cuban, Japanese..there are SO many...help! :) chefgrille: that was a great point about starting off easy and introducing the less familiar as we go...I think we might do just that..maybe start with Italian

Why do the british dislike their culture so much? Our local primary school isn't allowed to do a nativity play because it might upset other religions. I wasn't upset by Eid or Divali earlier in th year, and I'm fairly sure that most religous people aren't upset by other religions' festivals. We moan about how ugly our country is, when in fact it's stunningly beautiful. We're ashamed of our history - "the empire was so wicked", without ever putting it in context and seeing that a. there were good points as well as bad points to the empire b. plenty of other people in the world have had empires (greek, italian, turkish, japanese etc ) and don't constantly berate themselves over it c. the people who were part of our empire would quite happily have had empires of their own if they could. If you go to London, you'll rarely find an "english" person - they're greek, irish, scottish, pakistani - even if they, their parents and/or grandparents were born in this country. You'll rarely find English food there either - it's not "sophisticated" enough. We look down on tea as being dull, and coffee is "where it's at". What's wrong with us? Why are we so down on our own culture and religion? And what can we do to resurrect some modicum of pride and love in our own country?
What is a good name for a site that is about Japan and Anime/Manga? I want to make a site that is about Japan. I am going to put things about culture, food, and different things like their history, and also I want to put lessons up on how to speak Japanese and write it. Other than that a large part of the site will be about Anime and Manga and roleplaying Anime plots and things like that. Put I just don't want the name to be like Animazing or something. I want something related to Japan as a whole. If you can think of anything your help would be greatly appreciated.
If you can change your origin, what would it be? in my case i would like to be either a Japanese or French. not that i'm not proud of my homeland, i just like their culture and food and they have (for me) a very interesting history. thank you for sharing. ^__^

Do you think this girl might like me? Im sorry I couldnt make this any shorter. If you do read it thank you! I have been told by two of my friends that a girl in my Japanese class might like me. In Japanese class she ushally sits next to me. But thats because she sits next to her friend so she sits between me and her friend. Sometimes she dosent bring her book bag or anything with her to class I dont know why. But when she dosent bring anything she will always ask me for something like a pencil. When im sure her friend next to her would have one she could use. She also needed some paper one day she asked me first and didnt ask her friend. Outside of class when we speak to each other we will speak in Japanese sometimes but we ushally dont talk about class. One day I was borrowing a paper from her to photocopy we meet at the libary when I was done with it. She said she was going to buy lunch I wasnt doing anything so I went with her. But when we got to the food court at our student union she said she didnt have any money and asked me to pay for her. The next day she bought lunch for me instead of just paying me back. I meet her at the libary one day because she wanted me to pick up the 30 paper cranes we had to fold for Japanese class. I was going to do an extra credit assinment outside of class and our teacher was going to be there so she asked me to turn them in for her. She asked me if I wanted to sit down after she gave me her cranes and we started talking for a bit after we sat down. She then asked me to help her find a book in the libary. It took us about 20 minutes to find the books she wanted. After we found them she said she didnt have her ID card and couldnt check out the books and asked me to check them out for her. She ended up going to the extra credit assinment because we ran into another one of her friends and she presuaded her to go. (She is also in a Japanese class just a different section) I dont know what they said exactly because they where speaking in Chinese. She checked out 3 books and when she was done with two of them she asked me in class to return them for her. Shes using them to write a paper for a history class she said I could read her paper when shes done with it if I want to. Im not sure if she wants me to proof read it for her. We dont have a distance barrier between us. If im walking with her we sometimes walk close to each other. Sometimes if we are standing next to each other we are ushally close enough that sometimes her arm might brush against me. I cant really tell if she might like me or if we are just friends. What do you think? Culture wise I dont know how the Chinese ushally act with friends of different genders. So I dont know if its normal behavior for her because she grew up in China. Again sorry for making this long.

Do you feel like a slave to U.S. society and city life? Don't get defensive, because this may explain why you are not happy. Men and women have natural roles. Mothers, fathers, hunters, gatherers, fighters, leaders, followers. These roles would be fufilled in a natural environment. The people who live the longest, happiest lives live in villages. They find or kill their food, build their own shelter and can actually drink the water that is around them without bottles. They interact with nature and respect it, because this is what they depend on. Native Americans were the perfect example, before slaveholders raped the land, killed the culture and spirit, starting what has lead to today's country, the self proclaimed greatest on Earth. Do not be fooled by your history books or modern brainwashing. Buffalo went from being in the millions to an endangered species. I have never eaten buffalo, let alone hunt it, in 19 years. What was done with the land since then? mined for gold, Japanese slave labor, gambling, La Vegas, Hollywood...Exploited. Men. Your natural role as a hunter or gatherer has been stolen from you. Money is power and your natural instinst and power to hunt has been replaced with fast food, grocery store, etc. How do you feel after you eat fast food? How could you hunt in a city? Where is the highest crime rate and the angriest people? Answer these questions to yourself. The main question is, when your natural drive is repressed and replaced with a unfufilling job and dependence on others for food and protection etc. is this not a form of slavery? If you agree with this, How can we go back to nature, before it is too late? Before you answer, think about it for a while, as this isn't for 2 imaginary points, it is for your children and grandchildren's well being. If you are a hunter or fighter, let me know. The small tight knit community is rare these days. I am lucky enough to have one, but it is surrounded by cities and suburbs, so I know both ways of life well. What people fail to learn, as they don't want you to learn, is 100 years ago, there was no such thing as heart disease. Most health problems are due to lack of exercise and our horrible diets. Cancer is caused by stress. Many of my ancestors lived to over 100 years old, and this covers a span without modern medicine and without pampered fairytale lives. Survival of the fittest is the answer to too many people. If you look at history, Empires like America don't last. Adrenaline junkies and gamblers are filling a void of risk, and putting others at risk, because they cannot hunt or fight. follow your instinct. it is millions of years old, your distractions are born everyday. READ THIS FIRST: I really only go into the food role, but technology has given us fantasy role fufillment for every need. There are games for fighting, farming and hunting, pornography, where you sit at your computer and Feel like you're doing something important, but your body is becoming weaker everyday. In reality, you must be strong to do these things necesary for survival. If the infrastructure of America is destroyed, you can't grow food or learn to hunt in two weeks. Especially if you are out of shape and competing with everyone else. Only the Strong Survive
Who would share my views? Freemasonry is the world religion, incorporating all religions and is based on astrology. The world is kept chained by an elite class. Palestinians are being brutalised by soldiers. We are in a stage of global cooling, not warming. We are being poisoned from the skies by chemtrail. Nazis control the US government and Barack Obama is a puppet, as politics are theatrics. There is no hell. The "powers that be" in this world seek to reduce the population drastically. Te-levi-sion is a propaganda and mind con-trol machine. We live in a bee type society where the elites get the royal jelly. Our language was created ages ago by ma-sons. The twin towers was an orchestrated event planned by the hidden masters, as was JFK's assasination, the global recession and the all of the wars throughout history. All of our foods we eat are worth very little healthwise. M(h)oney and "civilisation" are the root of all evil (veil, live) RFID chips are part of the "great work" that masons often talk about towards the annihilation of free thought and critical thinking. The Japanese have introduced new "robot teachers" which will replace teachers in schools (as if the in-doctrination wasn't bad enough). The "great work" will seek to "perfect ADAM" and change an x into a y. At the higher ranks of freemasonry, they engage in homosexual activities. They (the sciontists) use music and subliminal messaging on te-levi(evil)-sion(as in SION) in popular music videos and "PROGRAMMES". The one eyed pyramid on the dollar bill is an occult symbol. We are never truly out of debt. All our culture is crea-ted for us. We are given "order" because we cannot "rule (as in a ruler, a term in freemasonry) ourselves. The "chairties" are a front. Truth is stranger than fiction. Don't worry, I'm sure the doctors can give me pills to "MAKE ME HAPPY". First they laugh at you... then they... Have you ever heard of Plato's parable of the cave? Captain O, don't worry, just keep living in REAL-ITY. Ron Paul is a fraud. I am no fish.
To Kill an American: You probably missed it in the news- someone in Pakistan had published in a newspaper? an offer of a reward to anyone who killed an American, any American. So an Australian dentist wrote an editorial the following day to let everyone know what an American is so they would know when they found one. (Good one, mate!!!!) ************************************************************************** "An American is English, or French, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek. An American may also be Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani or Afghan. An American may also be a Comanche, Cherokee, Osage, Blackfoot, Navaho, Apache, Seminole or one of the many other tribes known as native Americans. An American is Christian, or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan. The only difference is that in America they are free to worship as each of them chooses. An American is also free to believe in no religion. For that he will answer only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God. An American lives in the most prosperous land in the history of the world. The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence, which recognizes the God given right of each person to the pursuit of happiness. An American is generous. Americans have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need, never asking a thing in return. When Afghanistan was over-run by the Soviet army 20 years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win back their country! As of the morning of September 11, Americans had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan. Americans welcome the best of everything...the best products, the best books, the best music, the best food, the best services. But they also welcome the least. The national symbol of America, The Statue of Liberty, welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed. These in fact are the people who built America. Some of them were working in the Twin Towers the morning of September 11, 2001 earning a better life for their families. It's been told that the World Trade Center victims were from at least 30 different countries, cultures, and first languages, including those that aided and abetted the terrorists. So you can try to kill an American if you must. Hitler did. So did General Tojo, and Stalin, and Mao Tse-Tung, and other blood-thirsty tyrants in the world. But, in doing so you would just be killing yourself. Because Americans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, is an American.

An American may also be a Comanche, Cherokee, Osage, Blackfoot, Navaho, Apache, Seminole or one of the many other tribes known as nativeAmericans. An American is Christian, or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan . The only difference is that in America they are free to worship as each of them chooses. An American is also free to believe in no religion. For that he will answer only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God. An American lives in the most prosperous land in the history of the world. The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence , which recognizes the God given right of each person to the pursuit of happiness. An American is generous. Americans have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need, never asking a thing in return. When Afghanistan was over-run by the Soviet army 20 years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win back their country! As of the morning of September 11, Americans had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan . Americans welcome the best of everything...the best products, the best books, the best music, the best food, the best services. But they also welcome the least. The national symbol of America , The Statue of Liberty , welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed. These in fact are the people who built America . Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, is an American."
Australians I love you!! Do you know who wrote this? This is being widely circulated in the US.? Written by an Australian Dentist...and too good to delete.... To be an American? With all that has been happening in the past decade here in the U.S. I have noticed that some people are not even proud to be an American. Are you proud to be an American and why? Since you are not an American your vote does not count, but thanks for letting us know that you are unpatriotic when it comes to your own country ; )

Amen, I AM Dartagnon A PROUD US of A American Feel free to donate a STAR if you find this warms your heart, or is simply interesting! Thanks! Dantes ... I agree with you "by definition" but the "accepted" name for the United States is America. You are correct that Canada and Mexico and Brazil and Chile and Peru are ALL parts of America but if a Mexican citizen went to Paris and stated that he was an American would he be accepted as such? Not really, even though he is technically correct. I believe our Dentist friend here was talking about the USA as being the True America, but I also don't mean to step on any other brother or sister from other countries in North OR South America. MORETOO: You are a rebel to the quick and we love you all the same. Do you see our bombers overhead yet? Thank you all for all the great answers so far. I look forward to seeing many more. ALL answers are fine! You may express your thoughts with no fear. The USA is not perfect, but we are trying! Especially now with the "changing of the guard". Thank God!
Is it ok for a Chinese to date Japanese girls? I am a Chinese and i am really attracted to Japanese girls and if I were to marry a Japanese girl, would my child be a japanese or chinese or both, i read some history and it says that Japanese originated from China or something like that? Is it ok to marry a Japanese, I really couldn't care less what Japanese did to the Chinese in World War II, I love Japanese food that is sushi, sashimi, ramen, udon and many more, I love the way they value life, their high discipline and highly cultured people. I love Japanese girls so much. Since I am a Chinese is it ok that I date a Japanese girl?

I need help with my informative speech topic? I'm having a little trouble deciding what topic to research for my informative speech ... My first choice was Cult Classic films during the Midnight Movie era, but my teacher told me that I "would not be able to find sufficient college-level sources" for my research. So, my ideas for topics are either: 1) European art of the late 19th century. ~Specifically, I was thinking of discussing the life of either Vincent van Gogh or Claude Monet. 2) Japanese culture ~Japanese cuisine, delicacies; history of Japanese food. I think I'd like to research Japanese food rather than the life of an artist. I love art, but I'm planning on majoring in Cultural Anthropology so I figured I'd get a taste of some culture. My teacher wants us to present our topic in this form: Topic: Japanese Cuisine/History of Japanese food General Purpose: To inform Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about _______. I'm not sure exactly what to research or what to write for my specific purpose. I'm having trouble narrowing the topic to something more specific. She told me that it shouldn't be too general, but I don't know how to narrow it down anymore. The speech is only four to six minutes. Any help anyone???????
Why do somebody feel sick to food they never eat? Now, some Korean web site has a controversy. It is "That a old Korean culture is grotesque? or not?" However, that controversy was started by international criticism. Visiter for Korean olinpic brought first step. Many Korean people don't have any question of eating dog's meet until them. In the past, I had some chance to find criticism looks like this case on the paper, some people get angry about other countries culture that they doesn't have any connection. Why they get angry? When you feel sick to a food, why some people bother to put pressure on other one living in a far country? In Japan (I'm Japanese), we call that people "Mr. Embarrass" or "Stranger" or "DQN" like a heretic. because such people is very few. But in the world history, sometimes such thought changed to big movement. Why they feel as be tormented? Other countries culture never torment them, if they don't touch this problem. Thank you for reading this post like kinder question.
can you proof read my essay, or at least see if the 1st paragraph makes sense? can you think of a better way to word the first paragraph, or is it okay? thanks for helping :D ♥ compare and Contrast: Russia v. Japan Russia and Japan have many things in common, however, they also have many differences. Their history, holidays, geography, religion, government, education, desire to be westernized, economy, and cuisine all make up what these countries have become. Even though they are different from each other in several aspects, they are also ery similar in others. Little is known about Russia and Japan’s early history. The origin of the Japanese people is unknown, however, it is believed that the first state in Japan was set up in A.D. 4. Russia is believed to have begun with the East Slavs, a recognizable group in Europe between the third and eighth centuries AD. The first East Slavic State arose in the ninth century and adopted Christianity from the Byzantine Empire in 988. This state made Russia what is today and defined its culture for the future. Golden Week and the Obon Festival are two major holidays in Japan. There are a number of national holidays during Golden Week, in which most businesses close for seven to ten days, and people travel. The Obon Festival is a very important tradition for Japanese people. It is a Buddhist event, in which peoples’ ancestors' spirits come back to their homes to reunite with their family. One holiday Japan and Russia have in common is New Years. Some holidays in Russia are Victory Day, and Defender of the Fatherland Day. Victory Day is a day for remembering those who died in World War II, and paying tribute to those who survived it. Defender of the Fatherland Day is a day to honor those who are or have served in the Armed Forces. Russia and Japan’s geographies are very similar in the fact that they are both very mountainous. Also, the Pacific Ocean borders both of the countries on one side. There are also some differences in their geographies. Russia is the largest country in the world, and is over twice the size of the United States, while Japan is smaller than California. Despite their difference in size, both countries’ populations are very large. Japan has a population of about 127,400,000 and Russia has a population of about 141,400,000. Another difference is that Japan consists of many rivers, lakes, and terraces, while Russia is made up of mostly grasslands and forests. Russia’s main religion is Russian Orthodox. Buddhism and Shinto are the two main religions in Japan. Russian Orthodox is a form of Christianity that is based on the bible. Muslim is the secondary religion in Russia. Buddhism is based on the techniques attributed to Siddhartha Gautama or “the Buddha.” Buddhists believe in karma, reincarnation, and the Cycle of Samsara. Shinto is a religion with a primary focus of fitting into the world today, and is not concerned so much with the afterlife. Russia’s government consists of twenty-one autonomous republics and forty-seven oblasts or regions. The president is the head of state, and the governor is the head of the government. Russia used to be a communist country. Japan is a constitutional monarchy. The emperor is the head of state, but has no governing power. The prime minister is the head of the government. Education in Japan is free from ages six to fifteen, and competition among students is intense. The majority of students in Japan attend private schools, because of the numerous entrance exams students are required to take. Education in Russia is also free for certain ages. From ages six to seventeen, education is free. Although education is highly valued in Russia, economic hardships have caused many schools to close. Another thing that Russia and Japan have in common is their desire to be westernized. Both of these countries are becoming more and more like America. During the cold war, Russia’s technology was advancing, just like America’s. Russia and America had a race to space, to see who could get a man in space first. Even though America won the race, Russia wasn’t far behind. They were both world superpowers at the time, and the competition between them was intense. That competition still exists today. Russia is still attempting to be like America. The lifestyle of Americans and Russians are very similar as well. Education is highly-valued, and both countries’ major religion is a form of Christianity. Japan is also becoming westernized. English is taught in all of Japan’s secondary schools, and a lot of Japanese people can speak it. They wear clothes just like America’s. Their latest fashion is usually the same as the latest fashion in America. Fast food is becoming increasingly popular as well. Also, Japan’s biggest trading partner is the United States. Japan and Russia are both becoming more like America. Russia and Japan’s economies greatly differ. Despite its lack of natural resources, Japan’s economy is one of the largest in the world. Their economy has greatly recovered since the economic crisi
What Makes AMERICA so GREAT???? This is not my own work....but this article is written so well that all I can do is pass it on to the rest of you...Although there are many great things about America, that were left out of this article.....its still a fantastic piece of literature GOD BLESS AMERICA.......AND ALL THAT STAND WITH HER! 10 things to celebrate - Why I'm an anti-anti-American By Dinesh D'Souza http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi? f=/c/a/2003/06/29/IN290713.DTL America is under attack as never before -- not only from terrorists but also from people who provide a justification for terrorism. Islamic fundamentalists declare America the Great Satan. Europeans rail against American capitalism and American culture. South American activists denounce the United States for "neocolonialism" and oppression. Anti-Americanism from abroad would not be such a problem if Americans were united in standing up for their own country. But in this country itself, there are those who blame America for most of the evils in the world. On the political left, many fault the United States for a history of slavery, and for continuing inequality and racism. Even on the right, traditionally the home of patriotism, we hear influential figures say that America has become so decadent that we are "slouching towards Gomorrah." If these critics are right, then America should be destroyed. And who can dispute some of their particulars? This country did have a history of slavery and racism continues to exist. There is much in our culture that is vulgar and decadent. But the critics are wrong about America, because they are missing the big picture. In their indignation over the sins of America, they ignore what is unique and good about American civilization. As an immigrant who has chosen to become an American citizen, I feel especially qualified to say what is special about America. Having grown up in a different society -- in my case, Bombay, India -- I am not only able to identify aspects of America that are invisible to the natives, but I am acutely conscious of the daily blessings that I enjoy in America. Here, then, is my list of the 10 great things about America. -- America provides an amazingly good life for the ordinary guy. Rich people live well everywhere. But what distinguishes America is that it provides an impressively high standard of living for the "common man." We now live in a country where construction workers regularly pay $4 for a nonfat latte, where maids drive nice cars and where plumbers take their families on vacation to Europe. Indeed, newcomers to the United States are struck by the amenities enjoyed by "poor" people. This fact was dramatized in the 1980s when CBS television broadcast a documentary, "People Like Us," intended to show the miseries of the poor during an ongoing recession. The Soviet Union also broadcast the documentary, with a view to embarrassing the Reagan administration. But by the testimony of former Soviet leaders, it had the opposite effect. Ordinary people across the Soviet Union saw that the poorest Americans have TV sets, microwave ovens and cars. They arrived at the same perception that I witnessed in an acquaintance of mine from Bombay who has been unsuccessfully trying to move to the United States. I asked him, "Why are you so eager to come to America?" He replied, "I really want to live in a country where the poor people are fat." -- America offers more opportunity and social mobility than any other country, including the countries of Europe. America is the only country that has created a population of "self-made tycoons." Only in America could Pierre Omidyar, whose parents are Iranian and who grew up in Paris, have started a company like eBay. Only in America could Vinod Khosla, the son of an Indian army officer, become a leading venture capitalist, the shaper of the technology industry, and a billionaire to boot. Admittedly tycoons are not typical, but no country has created a better ladder than America for people to ascend from modest circumstances to success. -- Work and trade are respectable in America. Historically most cultures have despised the merchant and the laborer, regarding the former as vile and corrupt and the latter as degraded and vulgar. Some cultures, such as that of ancient Greece and medieval Islam, even held that it is better to acquire things through plunder than through trade or contract labor. But the American founders altered this moral hierarchy. They established a society in which the life of the businessman, and of the people who worked for him, would be a noble calling. In the American view, there is nothing vile or degraded about serving your customers either as a CEO or as a waiter. The ordinary life of production and supporting a family is more highly valued in the United States than in any other country. America is the only country in the world where we call the waiter "sir," as if he were a knight. -- America has achieved greater social equality than any other society. True, there are large inequalities of income and wealth in America. In purely economic terms, Europe is more egalitarian. But Americans are socially more equal than any other people, and this is unaffected by economic disparities. Alexis de Tocqueville noticed this egalitarianism a century and a half ago and it is, if anything, more prevalent today. For all his riches, Bill Gates could not approach the typical American and say, "Here's a $100 bill. I'll give it to you if you kiss my feet." Most likely, the person would tell Gates to go to hell! The American view is that the rich guy may have more money, but he isn't in any fundamental sense better than anyone else. -- People live longer, fuller lives in America. Although protesters rail against the American version of technological capitalism at trade meetings around the world, in reality the American system has given citizens many more years of life, and the means to live more intensely and actively. In 1900, the life expectancy in America was around 50 years; today, it is more than 75 years. Advances in medicine and agriculture are mainly responsible for the change. This extension of the life span means more years to enjoy life, more free time to devote to a good cause, and more occasions to do things with the grandchildren. In many countries, people who are old seem to have nothing to do: they just wait to die. In America the old are incredibly vigorous, and people in their seventies pursue the pleasures of life, including remarriage and sexual gratification, with a zeal that I find unnerving. -- In America the destiny of the young is not given to them, but created by them. Not long ago, I asked myself, "What would my life have been like if I had never come to the United States?" If I had remained in India, I would probably have lived my whole life within a five-mile radius of where I was born. I would undoubtedly have married a woman of my identical religious and socioeconomic background. I would almost certainly have become a medical doctor, or an engineer, or a computer programmer. I would have socialized entirely within my ethic community. I would have a whole set of opinions that could be predicted in advance; indeed, they would not be very different from what my father believed, or his father before him. In sum, my destiny would to a large degree have been given to me. In America, I have seen my life take a radically different course. In college I became interested in literature and politics, and I resolved to make a career as a writer. I married a woman whose ancestry is English, French, Scotch-Irish, German and American Indian. In my twenties I found myself working as a policy analyst in the White House, even though I was not an American citizen. No other country, I am sure, would have permitted a foreigner to work in its inner citadel of government. In most countries in the world, your fate and your identity are handed to you; in America, you determine them for yourself. America is a country where you get to write the script of your own life. Your life is like a blank sheet of paper, and you are the artist. This notion of being the architect of your own destiny is the incredibly powerful idea that is behind the worldwide appeal of America. Young people especially find irresistible the prospect of authoring the narrative of their own lives. -- America has gone further than any other society in establishing equality of rights. There is nothing distinctively American about slavery or bigotry. Slavery has existed in virtually every culture, and xenophobia, prejudice and discrimination are worldwide phenomena. Western civilization is the only civilization to mount a principled campaign against slavery; no country expended more treasure and blood to get rid of slavery than the United States. While racism remains a problem, this country has made strenuous efforts to eradicate discrimination, even to the extent of enacting policies that give legal preference in university admissions, jobs, and government contracts to members of minority groups. Such policies remain controversial, but the point is that it is extremely unlikely that a racist society would have permitted such policies in the first place. And surely African Americans like Jesse Jackson are vastly better off living in America than they would be if they were to live in, say, Ethiopia or Somalia. -- America has found a solution to the problem of religious and ethnic conflict that continues to divide and terrorize much of the world. Visitors to places like New York are amazed to see the way in which Serbs and Croatians, Sikhs and Hindus, Irish Catholics and Irish Protestants, Jews and Palestinians, all seem to work and live together in harmony. How is this possible when these same groups are spearing each other and burning each other's homes in so many places in the world? The American answer is twofold. First, separate the spheres of religion and government so that no religion is given official preference but all are free to practice their faith as they wish. Second, do not extend rights to racial or ethnic groups but only to individuals; in this way, all are equal in the eyes of the law, opportunity is open to anyone who can take advantage of it, and everybody who embraces the American way of life can "become American." Of course there are exceptions to these core principles, even in America. Racial preferences are one such exception, which explains why they are controversial. But in general, America is the only country in the world that extends full membership to outsiders. The typical American could come to India, live for 40 years, and take Indian citizenship. But he could not "become Indian." He wouldn't see himself that way, nor would most Indians see him that way. In America, by contrast, hundreds of millions have come from far-flung shores and over time they, or at least their children, have in a profound and full sense "become American." -- America has the kindest, gentlest foreign policy of any great power in world history. Critics of the United States are likely to react to this truth with sputtering outrage. They will point to long-standing American support for a Latin or Middle Eastern despot, or the unjust internment of the Japanese during World War II, or America's reluctance to impose sanctions on South Africa's apartheid regime. However one feels about these particular cases, let us concede to the critics the point that America is not always in the right. What the critics leave out is the other side of the ledger. Twice in the 20th century, the United States saved the world -- first from the Nazi threat, then from Soviet totalitarianism. What would have been the world's fate if America had not existed? After destroying Germany and Japan in World War II, the United States proceeded to rebuild both countries, and today they are American allies. Now we are doing the same thing in Afghanistan and Iraq. Consider, too, how magnanimous the United States has been to the former Soviet Union after its victory in the Cold War. For the most part America is an abstaining superpower; it shows no real interest in conquering and subjugating the rest of the world. (Imagine how the Soviets would have acted if they had won the Cold War.) On occasion the United States intervenes to overthrow a tyrannical regime or to halt massive human rights abuses in another country, but it never stays to rule that country. In Grenada, Haiti and Bosnia, the United States got in and then it got out. Moreover, when America does get into a war, as in Iraq, its troops are supremely careful to avoid targeting civilians and to minimize collateral damage. Even as America bombed the Taliban infrastructure and hideouts, U.S. planes dropped food to avert hardship and starvation of Afghan civilians. What other country does these things? -- America, the freest nation on Earth, is also the most virtuous nation on Earth. This point seems counterintuitive, given the amount of conspicuous vulgarity, vice and immorality in America. Some Islamic fundamentalists argue that their regimes are morally superior to the United States because they seek to foster virtue among the citizens. Virtue, these fundamentalists argue, is a higher principle than liberty. Indeed it is. And let us admit that in a free society, freedom will frequently be used badly. Freedom, by definition, includes the freedom to do good or evil, to act nobly or basely. But if freedom brings out the worst in people, it also brings out the best. The millions of Americans who live decent, praiseworthy lives desire our highest admiration because they have opted for the good when the good is not the only available option. Even amid the temptations of a rich and free society, they have remained on the straight path. Their virtue has special luster because it is freely chosen. By contrast, the societies that many Islamic fundamentalists seek would eliminate the possibility of virtue. If the supply of virtue is insufficient in a free society like America, it is almost nonexistent in an unfree society like Iran's. The reason is that coerced virtues are not virtues at all. Consider the woman who is required to wear a veil. There is no modesty in this, because she is being compelled. Compulsion cannot produce virtue, it can only produce the outward semblance of virtue. Thus a free society like America's is not merely more prosperous, more varied, more peaceful, and more tolerant -- it is also morally superior to the theocratic and authoritarian regimes that America's enemies advocate. "To make us love our country," Edmund Burke once said, "our country ought to be lovely." Burke's point is that we should love our country not just because it is ours, but also because it is good. America is far from perfect, and there is lots of room for improvement. In spite of its flaws, however, American life as it is lived today is the best life that our world has to offer. Ultimately America is worthy of our love and sacrifice because, more than any other society, it makes possible the good life, and the life that is good.
