Luau Party for Graduation any ideas? I am having a graduation party at my house for all my senior friends. I am cleaning out my garage and covering all the walls with blue sheets and fabric. I want to cover the floor with sand but idk how much it is or if my dad approves. I am going to keep the garage doors open (the big ones where the cars come in) and hang paper lanterns in the door ways. I am going to use card board and paint bright signs that say beach this way and stuff like that.. I am also going to make a cardboard surf board with an ocean view on it. I am getting an inflatable palm tree and some flower petals to spread around. I am hoping to get round tables and cover the tops with blue or green table cloths and wrap a grass table skirt around each. For the tops of the tables I want to have either Hawaiian looking flowers or a coconut candle in the center surrounded by seashells. Also on the ceiling I want to have a blue sheer fabric with white Christmas lights. I will probably have a few beach balls laying around. My dad is making me this tiki bar (a cheap one) using plywood for the table top and using bamboo rods to hold up the top. I am planning on covering it the same way I will do the tables with a table cloth and grass skirt and a grass skirt also for the top (roof) of the tiki bar. I was going to make a little area where people could change but I don't know how I could do that. I was going to make it out of fabric but I thought people could easily pull it open so it wouldn’t be too private. Oh yeah I was also going to get a fish net and hang it over the fabric wall and put fish and sea shells in it. Out side I want to have tiki torches, a sign, maybe balloons. We have this huge black tarp that we always use as a slip and slide, I know its kind of juvenile but it's so much fun! I was thinking about renting a volley ball net, but I’m not sure about that yet. I was also going to have music playing in the garage to set a mood. For food I was going to have hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and salsa and drinks with cocktail parasols to serve at the tiki bar. For gift bags I was going to give stuff like seashell necklaces, ocean or coconut scented soaps and sprays, surf board key chains, maybe a cute notebook idk tell me if you have any ideas especially for guys. But yeah that’s about it if you have any ideas please let me know. If u have done a luau tell me how yours went thanks. I am buying my stuff from oriental trading, dollar tree and wall-mart.
How does this sound???? Any errors or ideas on how to make it better? Just two years ago, around this time of year, I went to India. I stayed there for about three months and wow! Who knew what an adventure I was in for? It was a real nifty and fascinating experience. I got to meet a variety of people, taste new food, go shopping, and also get used to major changes of everyday life such as the bathrooms. First of all, the atmosphere was very unique in India. It was nothing like the atmosphere here. For example, smelly goats, towering camels, enormous buffalos, and active cows were everywhere including the roads and streets. You could see motorcycles and little toy-like taxis called rickshaws going here and there that people depend on for transportation. Buses, trucks, cars, rickshaws and camels share the road. You would also see dozens of people crossing the street and just hanging around. Furthermore, there were no stop lights. The driving conditions were extremely chaotic and you have to be very cautious of what you do. You can hear horns honking everywhere. People honk their horns mostly every second to get each other’s attention. It was actually amusing to me having to be careless about everything because I am familiar with an orderly life. In India, people just cooperate with one another to make things happen. Moreover, the food is absolutely mind-blowing! It is very tasty and appetizing. The food is very spicy and it opens up your taste buds. Their mouth-watering snacks that you could purchase from food stalls on just about every corner of the street will make you ask for more. Some snacks are samosas, pakoras, and cold drinks like faludas. The ice cream over there is their specialty. There are a great deal of flavors mixed with heaps of toppings. You can get anything you want for a very little cost. You name it! Most of the restaurants are open 24 hours. In India, people just enjoy themselves throughout the day. They go to sleep very late either watching movies or hanging out. They barely have any laws. It is similar to New York City, the city where everyone barely gets any sleep. In addition to, India offers a great deal of clothes. You can get any type of fabric or cloth. Traditional, modern, eastern, western, oriental and so much more. It has clothes from all over the world. India is one of the world’s largest textile industry. Additionally, India’s clothes are very fashionable. They have innumerable designs and colors. There are a wide variety of choices that you can choose from. Overall, India is an incredibly vibrant place. It has such a rich culture and many traditions that people follow. If you were to go there, at this time, I think you would be just amazed to see how different our life is from theirs. India is a very beautiful destination, full of majestic and dazzling sites, just out of your dreams. Food as tasteful as it is colorful, vast plains, incredible riches, and fashionable clothing. There are many different languages and cultures. It has so many diverse people with different needs, likes and dislikes, strengths, opinions and ideas. But they all come together and work as a team to support each other and achieve their goals.
Japanese textile suppliers? Any suggestions for suppliers of Japanese/oriental fabrics would be much appreciated. Are there any shops in Melbourne (Australia) which specialize in this kind of stuff.
Your client has said that he likes French Provincial furniture....? ...What should you do before continuing to develop a decorating plan in that style for him? A. Show him examples of French Provincial and other styles to check on whether he knows styles and has expressed what he really wants. B. Let him know that you could give him a special discount on some Oriental furniture you have left over from another job. C. Decide whether you think the style is right for him and tell him which style you prefer. D. Check his color and fabric preferences to see if they allow you to use French Provincial.
Oriental rosewood dining set - help with colour theme!? We've had carved Oriental rosewood furniture for the past 20 years. Our large dining room looks unfriendly and harsh, and red/maroon seat cushions and white walls dont do justice to it. Since I live in Pakistan, there is amazing choice of colours & fabrics to choose from (Pakistani & Indian fabrics & crafts are similar) - but what kind of theme & colours go with the reddish furniture? Especially window treatment? I would love a friendlier, more colorful chic look that also brings out the beauty of the wood , and blends into our surrounding! I'd appreciate your ideas & imagination, thank you!!
Is America ready for an Asian/Oriental President? Before the most recent election, African-Americans were more pessimistic than Caucasians about the question of America's readiness for a Black President, but they are now more hopeful than Caucasians that race relations and social fabrics will evolve for the better. I'm speaking in statistics. How about for an Asian-American? More than clearly, it will have to be an America-born Asian to consider a high office in U.S. I will err on the side of reality and remain pessimistic. President-elect said in his speech when earning nomination that "White house is within the reach of everyone", and at victory speech, "Anything is possible in America." I will have to disagree. However, I guess the success of the incoming President can affect the chance of minorities other than African-Americans. If this were to happen, it can need the help of right set of circumstances as was the case in what led to Decision 2008.

Advice for little girls dressing up as Princesses at Disney World breakfast.? Hello, we're having breakfast at the Akershus Royal Banquet hall when we go to Disney World next month. My two year old LOVES Snow White. My question is this: I don't really want to buy her an expensive costume that's made of pretty but scratchy material. Do you think she'd be fine in a pretty yellow skirt with a fancy blue top and her hair done up in a red bow? Or would she look out of place with a ton of other little girls in the $50+ costumes? My six year old wants to go as Mulan, so I'm hoping to find a pretty pink dress and making her other pieces (they have some fancy inexpensive Oriental-inspired material at the fabric store that would be perfect). My husband says we'd better go with the Disney outfits, but I sort of think homey made up is more fun. What do you all think? Thanks so much!

Do cats really behave this way? CATS - YOU LOVE US REALLY 1. CHAIRS AND RUGS: If you have to throw up, get into a chair quickly. If you cannot manage in time, get to an Oriental rug. If no Oriental rug is available, shag is good. 2. DOORS: Do not allow closed doors in any room. To get a door opened, stand on hind legs and hammer with forepaws. Once door is opened, it is not necessary to use it. After you have ordered an outside door opened, stand halfway in and out and think about several things, This is particularly important during very cold weather, rain, snow, and mosquito season. 3. GUESTS: Quickly determine which guest hates cats the most. Sit on that human's lap. If you can, arrange to have "Friskies Fish n' Glop" on your breath. For sitting on laps or rubbing against clothing, select fabric colour that contrasts well with your fur. For example: white furred cats go to black wool clothing. For the guest who claims, "I love kitties," be ready with aloof disdain; apply claws to stockings or use a quick nip on the ankle. When walking among the dishes on the dinner table, be prepared to look surprised and hurt when scolded. The idea is to convey, "But you always allow me on the table when company isn't here." Always accompany guests to the bathroom. It isn't necessary to do anything. Just sit and stare. 4. WORK: If one of your humans is sewing or writing and another is idle, stay with the busy one. This is called helping, otherwise known as hampering. Following are the rules for hampering: A. When supervising cooking, sit just behind the left heel of the cook. You can't be seen and thereby stand a better chance of being stepped on, picked up and consoled. B. For book readers, get in close under the chin, between the humans eyes and the book, unless you can lie across the book itself. If it is a newspaper, claw at it until shredded. Your human will appreciate a home-made toy! C. For knitting projects, curl up quietly onto the lap of the knitter and pretend to doze. Occasionally reach out and slap the knitting needles or split yarn. The knitter may try to distract you with a scrap ball of yarn. Remember, the aim is to hamper work. 5. PLAY: It is important. Get enough sleep in the daytime so you are fresh for playing catch mouse or king-o-the-hill on their bed between 2am and 4am. MOST IMPORTANT: Begin people training early. You will then have a smooth-running household. Humans need to know basic rules. They can be taught if you start early and are consistent.
If I told you that..? I like musicals, one of my favorites is Rent and that I've seen it live on Broadway, I like little lap dogs like pugs and yorkie terriers, I can tell you the different types of fabric and what the textures are, my apartment is decorated in an oriental theme, I do yoga, I shop at Old Navy and American Eagle, I work in healthcare, I iron all my clothes because I hate wrinkles, I love to cook, I read a lot and consider myself well educated and have a good handle of the english language and can speak with proper grammar, and I'm soft spoken and sarcastic... Would you think I was a gay man? I am NOT a lesbian!! I am NOT a female. I am FTM and I am attracted to girl parts. That makes me straight, heteroflexible, gynosexual, queer, and/or panssexual, but NOT a lesbian.
Need help with cats & dogs going potty on throw rugs? I just moved into a new house and am having problems with both my cats and dogs going potty on the throw rugs. One of them has also gone on my expensive oriental rug. What can I do to get them to stop doing this? What can I use to clean the rugs where they won't be able to smell old urine/feces and go there again? I've tried washing the throw rugs with Era soap and lavender/vanilla fabric softener, putting the rugs back down and they just go on them again. I have no idea what to use on the oriental rug either. Should I just give it up as a lost cause and go with no throw rugs in my house until the animals get used to the new place? I've been here for 6 weeks now. The dogs are 6 years old and the cats are 8 and 10 years. I take the dogs out several times a day when I am home and keep them in the laundry room when I'm gone with a wee-wee pad. Thanks in advance for any advice.
does this makes sense to you, or its been copied from internet? fashion history help me? Hey guys, Im Lily!! I just wrote this essay, but well my sister gave it to me but her friend wrote and im not sure if she got it from text on internet... but i wanted to ask other peoples opinion, Does this actually makes sense? or been copied from internet? Fashion era to the 1915 to the 1919’s. In the 1909 a pars designer names Paul Poiret released a collection he called ‘’Scheherazade’’ and it featured oriental inspiration tunics made of chiffon, harem pants, tight skirts and caused a revolution in women’s clothes. The collection led to the abandonment of the corset and the invention of the modern bra. It took a long time for the effects of his collection to reach ordinary women, as fashion changed far slower in those days. By the 1915 the effects of Poiret’s work was now reaching the wardrobe of ordinary and middle class women. For decades doctors and many women were decrying the damage done to women’s bodies through tight laced corsets that deformed and constricted women’s bodies and by 1914 the message was finally being embraced by everyone. The advert of new materials that stretched and flexed with the body led to new lighter weight of underwear, and 1914 invention of Mary Phelps Jacob’s bra led to revolution in what was worn under dresses. With the new freedom new underwear, women could be more active and participate in more activities outside the home, like sports, golf, tennis, hiking and boating. Clothes began to reflect the changing needs of the modern women. Also World War 1 influenced fashion too, as war time shortages and military influenced led to the creation of new style, some were uniform influenced, but many were made of light fabrics that were not used in military wear. During the war women had to work in factories and other war industries and for the first time needed good solid utilitarian work clothes. After the war women refused to be corseted, constricted or held back by excessive layers of useless undergarments. Hoops were dead, corsets were a thing of the past and the stage was set for the flapper revolution of the 1920’s. In 1924 a typical women’s dress would be just above the ankle, she would be wearing long sleeves and several layers. By the end of 1919 she would be no longer wearing a heavy multi-layered dress that covered everything, but a light weight that ended just below the knee, made of bright coloured and patterned georgette, chiffon or other light weight fabric with her arms and neckline bare. In few years later fashion had undergone a level of change that had never been seen before, but in less than ten years nearly 800 years of previous fashion rules had been negated and changed. Thank you!!!

The most beautiful dress - not for me? I just bought the most beautiful dress I've seen in ages. To skip the description, I'll show you what the shape is: http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g246/inanna_unleashed/rochiecontur222.jpg The fabric is amazing. It's a really soft and elastic material. It has floral print - the print looks really rich and colorful, the general color is brown, the main accent is orange. It has a somewhat oriental look. Just beautiful! Other details: a thin orange lace along the bust hem and an orange thin ribbon that draws out the under bust. I've never seen something work SO GOOD with my skin type (fair, I'm blonde). Ok so this dress makes me look like from another planet (or island). But!!!! I have athletic figure, became a bit overweight (stopped doing sports), my arms are really thick and my belly pops out of the dress. I'm 5' 7" and 165 pounds (1.73m and 75 kg). I have a wide back and wide hips, so that means my waist isn't that thin and marked. How can I wear this (until I lose weight) so I don't look like a cross dressing wrestler? I mostly wear dark and simple colors, so I don't show fatness. This dress really POPS!!
Please read this and tell me if we see similar things (I wrote it. It's so long)? This is just practice for me to become better at narrative setting description. P.S. don't take Rachel's opinions personally, haha. Thanks all. 1. Read the passage first. 2. Look at the picture second. 3. Please tell me if you visualized something similar to what is actually in the picture. 4. Let me know what I could have done better. I can't italicize so I put her thoughts in dashes -like this- Rachel stepped down into the small lounge and sniffed gingerly at the stale air. She glanced back into the ornate hallway to dismiss the waitress. Everything was covered in rich, earth-tone fabrics. -Is this their cheap attempt at being luxurious?- Rachel felt like she was in a frivolous oriental coffin. The dim lighting and lack of windows created an oppressive environment. Olive brocade covered the walls and held the smell of smoke. Rachel squirmed on the distressed brown leather seats. They were much too low for her long legs, and she accidentally scuffed her heel on the wood skirting underneath them. She fiddled with a small throw pillow and ran her fingers over the worn dupioni silk. -Who knows what that has been used for- Rachel thought. Even so low to the ground, shadows created the illusion that the ceiling was right above her. The carpet's warm moss pattern barely covered its stains from parties past. The suede bench seating in the middle of the room felt too close to her feet. Rachel waited for the remaining guests, and tried to gather comfort in her surroundings. She huffed and couldn't believe the hostess was so late. Rachel was never the first to arrive at parties. She'd have never have sent an RSVP if she knew she'd be alone in a room with tacky statues. She glared at the spotlighted stone figure across the room. It was backed by a faux African print, and framed with an inelegant depression in the wall. There was a similar one just behind her. She chuckled at the main one in the back wall. Its head was enormous. A loud voice startled Rachel. She hoped they didn't see her laughing by herself. A stranger appeared in the doorway, accompanied by his wing men. Rachel slid down the seats to make room, and prepared herself for an awkward evening. Here is the room: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a199/momo_momo/frPrayerRoom_640.jpg PS If you only read part of it, please be honest. It'll just help me.
Decoration/Style/Design for your home? Hi Guys!! Need help with my course work... Im doing a study about homes and I would like to know: Which kind of decoration, design would like for your home? More traditional, conservative, modern, very clean and straight lines, very full of things, comfy and sweet, zen, victorian, oriental, minimalistic, very functional or maybe fashion and following the new trends or maybe you don't really care a lot? And which colours and fabrics? What do you think? Thank you so so much!!! It really helps me!!!
